In 2006 rehabilitation works were done in
Bebristsikhe-Beltistsikhe in the presence of archeologist V. Nikolaishvili.
Mtsketa was the capital, the bits of red colored tiles proved it, also clay
dishes of IX-XIII centuries were discovered.
In 2007 the works on
Beltistsikhe were renewed. Mainly the works were done in the central and
north towers. Clay dishes, building materials, tiles and nails were
discovered. I want to mention the clay dishes, which had the images of human
being. They belong to IX-XVIII centuries. In the entrance of the central
tower 4 meters high building was seen (area 3,5m²), new tower was built
after it was destroyed. Kitchen and agricultural clay things were
discovered, everything belongs to IV-VIII centuries. The ruins of buildings
were found in the north tower and bit of red tiles. We can see, the
buildings are built on the ruins of the old city.
The archeological materials
found in Bebristsikhe are important; they belong to antic era and medieval
centuries.
